The Husqvarna Z254F Zero-Turn Riding Lawn Mower combines a large 54-inch ClearCut fabricated cutting deck, Kawasaki V-twin gasoline power and hydrostatic zero-turn drive in a residential mower designed for efficient lawn maintenance.

The current Z254F is powered by a 24 HP Kawasaki FR Series engine. Husqvarna lists engine displacement at 44.3 cubic inches, equivalent to approximately 726cc. The V-twin configuration provides the power required to drive both the mower’s hydrostatic system and wide 54-inch cutting deck.

The mower’s defining cutting feature is Husqvarna’s ClearCut™ fabricated deck. Unlike the stamped deck used on some other Z200-series configurations, the Z254F uses welded steel deck construction with a published thickness of 10 gauge. Husqvarna designed the deck around airflow management and cutting performance for side-discharge, mulching and grass-collection applications.

Power is transferred through a Hydro-Gear hydrostatic transmission, allowing independent control of the rear drive wheels using the two steering levers. This provides true zero-turn maneuverability and eliminates the need for conventional manual gear shifting. Maximum published forward travel speed is 6.5 MPH.

The deck-height system is manually operated and spring-assisted, reducing the effort required when adjusting cutting height. A removable foot plate provides easier access to the cutting deck for cleaning and routine service.

For operator convenience, the Z254F features a ventilated padded seat, easily accessible control panel and factory LED headlights. Husqvarna states that the LED system illuminates a larger area than traditional incandescent headlights used on comparable equipment.

The mower also incorporates an automatic parking-brake system. The brake engages and disengages automatically as the steering levers are moved into or out of the parking position.
